We Rise In Colour

 

The Galaxy Pride Flags was created by Laurie Raye (they/them) - https://laurieraye.artstation.com/projects/Bm6dV6 - I combined two of their flags to create this one.

In shadows deep, we learned to tread,

With whispered names and dreams unsaid.

A rainbow heart behind closed doors,

In silence carved by ancient wars.

The world, it frowned too blind to see

The strength in love, in you, in me.

With labels thrown like sharpened stones,

We walked through fire with aching bones.

They said we couldn’t, shouldn’t be,

Tried to erase our history.

But still we loved, and still we dreamed,

And in our truth, our courage gleamed.

They passed their laws, they closed their hearts,

But queerness is a work of art.

Unbreakable, like morning light

That splits the dark and claims the night.

Each march, each flag, each kiss, each cry,

A vow that we will not comply

With shame they stitch into our skin

No, we were born, and we will win.

For every child who hides their face,

We’ll make this world a safer place.

For every voice still yet unheard,

We’ll lift them high with every word.

They may try hard to dim our flame,

But we are many, fierce, and brave.

Our love’s a storm, a song, a drum

We’re not afraid. We will not run.

We rise in colour, bold and bright,

With open arms and eyes of light.

This fight is ours, it’s just begun,

We’ll overcome. We will have won.
