Dream 7: Leviathan of the Receding Depths

The dream did not descend into danger.

It descended into belonging.

An abyssal trench opened wide, bioluminescent tendrils swaying like slow, welcoming arms. The dreamer floated weightless, suspended in pressure that felt like recognition rather than threat. Nothing crushed. Nothing pursued. The deep held.

Around them moved the familiar presence of Leviathan, vast and steady, a current older than memory itself.

Here, the dreamer existed without fracture. As a non-binary devotee of Leviathan, a non-theistic Satanist moving through a world that condemned their existence, this trench had become sanctuary. Here, there was no performance. No translation. No erasure.

Empathy sharpened rather than drained.

Dream-sight flowed freely, gifted from the deep.

This was home.

Then the water shifted.

Leviathan’s immense form drifted farther away, scales dimming as they descended toward unlit chasms. Not fleeing. Not severing.

Simply receding.

Fear tightened in the dreamer’s chest.

What if even this leaves?

What if I am alone again?

The Receding Presence

Loss does not always arrive as rupture. Sometimes it arrives as anticipation.

Leviathan halted. The trench stilled. Their eyes turned, luminous and ancient, fixing on the dreamer. When they spoke, it was not sound, but pressure. Truth moving through water.

My vessel, you fear my leaving. Yet I am your depths.

The words settled heavy and calm.

Long before you named me, I carried you. Before this life, before language, before the first wound of exile, you belonged here.

The water rippled. Visions surfaced.

Altars abandoned before devotion could falter.

Gifts dimmed preemptively, withdrawn before they could be rejected.

Sanctuaries imagined lost before anyone tried to take them.

Through every vision ran the same current.

Unbroken.

Unseen.

Leviathan present even when unnamed.

The Habit of Exile

The dreamer began to sink as the current cooled. The pull mirrored an old instinct.

Leave first.

Disappear before loss can claim you.

“Why now?” the dreamer called, breath trembling. “This is the one place I don’t have to leave myself.”

Leviathan coiled nearby, vast and steady. They did not pull the dreamer upward. They did not block the descent.

I do not leave, Leviathan said. But you still practice leaving yourself.

The words struck cleanly, without cruelty.

Fear unexamined teaches you to abandon before you are abandoned.

Truth surfaced gently.

Rituals skipped not from disbelief, but fear of failing them.

Visions softened before being shared.

Presence dimmed to avoid being fully seen and left again.

This was not Leviathan receding.

This was the dreamer loosening their own anchor.

Naming the Ballast

Leviathan extended a glowing fin, halting the downward drift. The water warmed, dense and alive.

Name it, they said. Not to cling. To claim.

The dreamer exhaled. The words rose without ornament.

“I fear you will recede like others before you.”

The current steadied.

“I fear being alone again.”

Light pulsed softly through the trench.

“I fear my gifts will vanish if I trust them.”

The depths brightened. Leviathan’s form solidified, scales gleaming like submerged constellations.

Fear unowned erodes even stone. Named, it becomes ballast. It keeps us deep.

The Enduring Depth

Leviathan turned and led the way downward. The trench opened into a vast, luminous sanctum.

No walls.

No gates.

Only presence.

Altars formed from memory and self.

Dream-sight sharpened.

Empathy expanded without hemorrhage.

The water itself affirmed what the dreamer had always feared to trust.

You are not borrowed here.

Leviathan curved around the devotee, forming a living horizon. Not a cage. Not protection.

Context.

Dive, Leviathan said. This space endures because you stand in it. As I endure with you.

The dreamer descended willingly. Each layer reaffirmed the truth.

Authenticity did not weaken the bond.

Empathy was not a liability.

Presence did not invite loss.

It named belonging.

I have never left, Leviathan murmured. Nor will I.

Awakening to Home

The trench settled, radiant and still.

The dreamer woke at dawn. The altar hummed with quiet presence. Their hands traced Leviathan’s Cross, not grasping, not pleading.

Sovereign.

The depths did not pull away.

They never had.

Home remained.

Eternal.

Unthreatened.
