Dream 18: Leviathan of the Silent Scream
The dream collapsed into a chamber engineered for quiet.
Muted stone absorbed every vibration. Color dulled to chalk and ash. Sound died on contact. The dreamer stood at the center, mouth open in a scream that never arrived, fists striking invisible barriers that offered no resistance and no release.
Behind them, Leviathan coiled pure force held in restraint. Their jaws were clamped shut around the space where the dreamer’s voice should have been. Not in cruelty. In containment learned too well.
Leviathan’s eyes burned with disciplined fire.
The Courtesy That Suffocates
Suppression often masquerades as kindness.
In waking life, the dreamer was a devoted teacher. Extra duties accepted without pause. Disrespect absorbed for the sake of calm. Boundaries dissolved into availability. Anger labeled unprofessional. Harmony elevated above honesty.
Smiles became armor.
Self-sacrifice became identity.
Resentment fermented quietly beneath civility.
Leviathan loosened their jaw a fraction. The chamber trembled.
You smother your fire for peace, Leviathan said. Suppressed anger unowned turns inward and devours the one who carries it.
The walls reflected truth.
Unspoken no’s calcifying into illness.
Kindness exploited until contempt replaced care.
Explosions erupting without warning, shocking even the dreamer.
The Fear Beneath Silence
Pressure mounted. Leviathan strained against their own restraint, veins standing stark along their throat. The dreamer’s silent scream intensified, eyes wide with urgency.
“Anger destroys,” the dreamer mouthed. “Boundaries hurt people. I keep the peace.”
Leviathan exhaled once. The stone cracked but did not collapse.
Suppression unowned demands perfection and breeds rupture, Leviathan replied. Healthy fire guards. It does not burn indiscriminately.
Cracks revealed the pattern.
Passive aggression poisoning civility.
Burnout baptized as dedication.
Power ceded to the loudest takers.
The truth surfaced cleanly.
This was not harmony.
It was self-erasure.
Naming the Fire
Leviathan opened their jaws carefully, returning the space where voice lived. Heat radiated without violence.
Name it, they said. Roar without destruction. Claim the right to take up air.
The words erupted raw and necessary.
“I silence anger because I fear conflict’s cost.”
The chamber widened.
“I swallow no’s and abandon my limits.”
Pressure equalized.
“I please endlessly and incinerate myself.”
Leviathan inclined their head.
Rage unowned poisons. Voiced, it carves space for life.
Speaking the Boundary
The chamber reshaped into an amphitheater. Sound carried. Voices resonated without dominance. Silence no longer swallowed truth.
Leviathan stood behind the dreamer, not amplifying volume, but clarity.
Speak, they said. Fire clears air. It forges steel.
The dreamer’s voice steadied.
Workloads were negotiated.
Disrespect addressed calmly.
Needs stated without apology.
Presence commanded not by force, but by coherence.
Leviathan’s fire warmed rather than scorched.
Harmony built on honesty endures, they murmured. Boundaries protect connection. Anger guides when honored.
Awakening to Fierce Clarity
Leviathan settled. The hall remained resonant and alive.
Their voice echoed softly.
You wake to requests and demands. Speak early. Say no cleanly. Express anger without cruelty. Suppression unowned implodes. Fire owned illuminates.
The dreamer woke to a flood of emails.
This time, the reply was simple.
I can’t take that on. Here’s an alternative.
The voice did not shake.
The fire did not burn.
It held.
Beneath waking thought, Leviathan rested.
The scream had become speech.
